Old Fylde Acoustic in for a re-fret and more.

This Fylde acoustic was bought in 1976 by the owner, I saw this guitar last when I was working in Richtone in Sheffield where it had an issue with the bridge. This time it’s come to me for a re-fret and a request to make the side dots more visible. On this job I went to work with my friend and mentor Jon Shuker as this guitar had so much sentimental value I wanted to rely on his extra advice.

Fairly straight forward re-fret but I discovered that the side dots where brass and so couldn’t be drilled out. Jon suggested that I knock them further into their holes and this worked a treat allowing me to fit new, larger dots.

I’m currently building my own acoustic guitar so it was a treat to see such an early example from a now well established luthier.
